    Andrew Rasmussen, Director

Andrew Rasmussen is a director and producer whose work blends theatricality with the “oddly poignant” humor praised by The New York Times. A graduate of NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts, he has developed work with Jamecia Bennett and The Sounds of Blackness, Berkeley Repertory Theatre, and the American Repertory Theater.

For the multimedia portrait project HOW WE MARCH, Rasmussen partnered with vocalist Kasano Mwanza and composer Aaron Gabriel to honor Marsha P. Johnson’s enduring legacy within trans and LGBTQIA+ communities, gathering more than 100 filmed portraits during Pride in New York City and Minneapolis.

He has transformed an 8,000-square-foot warehouse into what CBS called a “one-of-a-kind experience,” worked on Broadway and productions in Tokyo, Milan, and China, and directed the award-winning short film CHRISTMAS 1976.

Andrew believes the best stories surprise us—and sneak up on the heart.
